Welcome to Guesthouse Mio

Guesthouse Mio has been newly renovated in 2018. Our guesthouse was named 'Mio' as it is the Japanese word for 'waterway'. We are situated directly alongside the famous Ōmihachiman canal where you can watch the boats drift along during Japan's beautiful seasons.
We can accommodate up to 8 guests in our private holiday home. We offer our guests a wide range of amenities, including a fully-fitted kitchen, a washing machine, a portable wifi router and even a free-to-use bicycle service. Our wonderful location offers our guests the opportunity to easily explore Omihachiman and enjoy the experience of staying in a beautifully renovated, authentic Japanese home.

Wonderful Location

We are located directly next to ‘Hachimanbori’, (Hachiman Historic Canal). Why not take the opportunity to stay in a traditionally renovated old Japanese house which offers both a superb location as well as modern amenities to make your stay comfortable and convenient.
Our holiday home is within walking distance of all of Omihachiman’s major sightseeing spots such as Himure Shrine, the William Vorries Merrel architectural buildings and the Hachiman Ropeway (where you can get amazing views across Shiga from the summits of the mountain). Lake Biwa is so close to our house too!
You can experience ancient Japan here in Omihachiman. We would like you to enjoy our house and treat it like it is your own home. Please spend a memorable and relaxing time here with your friends and family!
